Phone-Free Zone
The title is a bit misleading, because we all have phones and use them, but they’re on silent. However, I’d like to talk about why we don’t use a phone for booking and communication here. We get this question every so often. Especially from someone who is new or running late. We want to put this information up here for those who are using the search bar to find a phone number. We have several reasons for not having a phone and it adds intense value to your time with us.
Going through a middle man to book an appointment is no longer efficient.
There are too many booking errors and miscommunications that can be avoided by removing the “middle man” standing between you and your appointment.
You have access to your stylist’s schedule 24-hours a day. You don’t have to wait for business hours. Mange your appointments when it works for you. You can check on it any time you want. You can reschedule as often as you need. You can cancel as soon as you know you need to. This empowers you to free up your stylist’s schedule as soon as you know you won’t need the time you booked. Now someone else can have that spot. Having no lag time between you needing to cancel and someone else needing that spot helps your stylist maximize their ability to earn an income.
Our schedules are set, we don’t change them based on who we’re talking to.
Yes, you read that right. Believe it or not, there is a pecking order in some salons. Some clients get preferential treatment based on certain circumstances. If their last name implies dollar signs or social weight, or they get aggressive when they don’t get their way, or they’ve always been able to get boundaries moved out of the way for them. This sort of client can’t stand online booking because it treats every client as an equal.
Calling us does not move a boundary.
It would make no difference to call. If you’re running late, simply get here within our “grace” period and let us know, then, why you’re late. If you’re going to exceed our grace period for the time you’ve booked, then initiate a “last minute cancellation” and reschedule for a day that works better for you.
If you’re running late and and it would soothe you to let us know you’re on your way, then send us a text. Our policies won’t change, but your stress level might and that matters to us.
No one gets upset because our boundaries make it where we don’t have to. We would only be upset if someone made us run late for our other clients. Being too late for us to take you only affects you and your stylist and your stylist has boundaries and leadership support to limit how often this happens to her. There is no such phrase here as “they called so they can be later now”. Calling doesn’t move our boundaries.
There are so many ways that our boundaries protect your time with us.
When our stylists are with their clients, they’re not being disturbed. You have a stylist who is 100% focused on you and your time here. You get to come into a salon that is ready and holding space for you. You get to sip hot organic tea or a glass of organic wine while you listen to music. You’re not surrounded by people trying to avoid awkward eye-contact, you’re not shuffled around from one spot to another while your stylist juggles other clients. You’re sitting in your own semiprivate space, free to read, free to browse your phone, free to shut your eyes and breathe. But still part of the whole.
We’re a gentle place. And this gentle place is guarded by our boundaries and those who uphold them. We, and all of our clients, know what we’re protecting.
If you’ve read this and you love it, then chances are good that you’re going to like it here. If you’re turned off, then you know we’re not a good fit for you. Just because we’re not for you, doesn’t mean there’s not a spot for you somewhere else. We’re all so different and being honest about your boundaries and expectations helps you find your people faster.
